Community and Prosperity Without Growth?

Yes, it’s possible. In fact, over the long-haul it’s the only way we can sustain the quality, livable, lovable community we want for our children and grandchildren. The past 15 years gave the Colorado Springs growth industry and its advocates in local government an opportunity to prove there is a pot of gold at the end of the incessant growth rainbow. It turns out that pot of gold was a myth. Look around. We’ve got a heck of a mess.

We need to rebuild, and I’ve decided to run for Council because it’s imperative we build the future of our city, not on an antiquated grow-or-die model, but rather with a modern, responsible, sustainable approach. It’s time for quality, not quantity.

Resources are tight, and everything is on the chopping block in our city budget – except growth subsidies. Those subsidies are designed to encourage the very behavior that got us into this mess. I understand why Council wants to keep subsidizing growth even if that means cutting parks, police and fire service. They believe growth is the solution (to the very problems they can’t see it created).

We can’t afford to waste our precious resources, gambling them away on a failed model. We should be reinvesting these resources in our community. Let’s take care of what we have.

Welcome to my campaign website. It is still under construction, but I figure there’s no need for a construction fence. You are welcome to watch as we build it over the next week or so. It’s all in the spirit of open, honest communication I feel can benefit our city. No secrets here. No deception. I believe daylight is a great disinfectant.

Stay tuned!
