Community and Prosperity Without Growth?

Yes, it’s possible. In fact, over the long-haul it’s the only way we can sustain the quality, livable, lovable community we want for our children and grandchildren. The past 15 years gave the Colorado Springs growth industry and its advocates in local government an opportunity to prove there is a pot of gold at the end of the incessant growth rainbow. It turns out that pot of gold was a myth. Look around. We’ve got a heck of a mess.

We need to rebuild, and I’ve decided to run for Council because it’s imperative we build the future of our city, not on an antiquated grow-or-die model, but rather with a modern, responsible, sustainable approach. It’s time for quality, not quantity.

Resources are tight, and everything is on the chopping block in our city budget – except growth subsidies. Those subsidies are designed to encourage the very behavior that got us into this mess. I understand why Council wants to keep subsidizing growth even if that means cutting parks, police and fire service. They believe growth is the solution (to the very problems they can’t see it created).

We can’t afford to waste our precious resources, gambling them away on a failed model. We should be reinvesting these resources in our community. Let’s take care of what we have.

Welcome to my campaign website. It is still under construction, but I figure there’s no need for a construction fence. You are welcome to watch as we build it over the next week or so. It’s all in the spirit of open, honest communication I feel can benefit our city. No secrets here. No deception. I believe daylight is a great disinfectant.

Stay tuned!

I really like the way you’re thinking, Dave. It’s the ultimate issue. Say it loud. May the people hear.

OK Dave, I hope you mean what you are saying about the Transit system which is frankly deplorable and getting increasingly worse with every “improvement” which not only effects regular riders but is having devastatingly negative effects for disabled riders like myself. After putting in a new stop on my route a half block from my house. They’re now taking it back and making me have to go another block and a half from my old stop. I no longer have any evening service or Sundays. If I want to go to church I have to either walk or use mobility a round trip from church is $6 every Sunday. I’m living on state disability and can barely pay my utility bill so my church attendance has been bad lately. I’ve thought about the citizen’s transit board but, really feel that Mayor Rico Riviera doesn’t want my opinion. 1950’s Hell we haven’t made it out of the 1890’s here!
PS Handsome dog,had one just like until my roommate let him loose and he got lost.
